Parent Resouces

Dear Parent,

Welcome to an exciting year in the third grade. I am very excited about the new year and I look forward to working with you and your child. I will be sending home a weekly newsletter to keep you informed about what we are learning, as well as a monthly calendar of events. Please check your child's backpack every night, as I will be sending home completed/graded work and any school news and/or notes almost daily.

You are always welcome in our classroom! Please don't hestitate to contact me should you have questions/concerns about your child.

Is your child a little nervous about third grade, or being in an eMINTS classroom? Well, I hope I can make it a little easier for both of you. Your child will participate in an eMINTS classroom. We are equipped with a Smartboard, scanner, a digital camera and computers. We use this equipment for educational purposes and must adhere to guidelines for their use.

Third Grade-Changes

School changes quite dramatcally for students in the third grade, the first big change is in Science and in Social Studies. Your child will be responsible for study guides and chapter tests in these two subjects. Study skills will become very important as your child will be given long-term assignments.

Snacks

Students are asked to take turns providing snacks each day. I will set aside a date each month for your child to bring snacks. (If you do not wish to send a snack, please disregard the date.) The date is negotiable and can be adjusted. If your snack day falls on a weekend or holiday, simply send it on the next day of school. Please make sure snacks are prepackaged and healthy. Any contribution to our class will be greatly appreciated!!!!

MAP

Third grade students in Missouri are MAP tested in Communications Arts and math. Your child will be working very hard in these subjects to ensure an adeqaute knowledge base for achieving positive testing results. Superb testing results benefit your child and our school district as well.
