Weeks of November 23 – December 4

These two weeks in fifth grade will be a busy ones. These are our goals and objectives:

 

Language Arts – forming contractions with verbs and not, regular and irregular verb forms

GLE’s All the W’s

 

Reading – A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck; sequencing chapter 2 and reading chapter 3

GLE’s R1C, R1D, R1E, R1G, R1H, R2C, R3A, R3C

 

Spelling – finishing words with the v/cv or vc/v pattern and then studying words with the v/v pattern

GLE’s W2E, W3A, R1E

 

Math – ½ of odd numbers, comparing fractions by drawing pictures, pictures of mixed numbers, adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators, short division, and Test 9

GLE’s G1A, AR1A, NO1A, NO1B, NO1D, NO3A, NO3C, NO2A, NO2B, NO2C

 

Social Studies – Taking the chapter 4 test and beginning chapter 5

Science – Chapter 3: Vertebrates—fish, amphibians, and reptiles.

Tuesday: Spelling Bee at 7:15, Popcorn party

Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving
