	Class Policies
Homework: Classroom assignments are due the next school day at 8:00 or when you arrive at school. You are given time in class to work on assignments; however, everyone works at a different rate or some do not use their time wisely. Consequently, you will need to finish assignments at home if they are not completed during class work time. Each month there will be a book project to complete that is completed as homework or during free time.
AR Reading: Students will receive an AR goal each quarter. These goals are based on the student's individual reading ability; therefore, they will vary from student to student. AR will account for one-third of your reading grade. AR is an assignment that is to be completed just as you would any class assignment. Accountability Notices will be given for students who do complete their reading goal for the quarter. Students who get behind in their reading may be held in from recess to allow extra time to catch up. However, students who have met their goal for the week may use any AR time for other assignments, computers, puzzles, or games. At the end of each quarter we will have a nacho or ice cream/movie party for students who reached 100% of their goal for the quarter. At the end of the school year there will be an extra party for students who reached their goal for all four quarters.
Grading Scale: 97-100 A 87-89 B+ 77-79 C+ 67-69 D+ 90-96 A- 84-86 B 74-76 C 64-66 D WOW 80-83 B- 70-73 C- 60-63 D- 59 F and below
Extra Credit: Extra Credit will be available. Extra credit will not be forced and is voluntary on the student's part.
Accountability Notices: Assignments are due the next school day at 8:00 or when you first arrive at school. I do not allow students to finish work from the previous day when you arrive because it tends to be hurried and not your best effort. Rushed work also leads to poor school habits. An Accountability Notice will be issued for missing and incomplete assignments. A copy of the notice will be sent home for a parent signature. You will be held in at recess to complete the assignment and will be held in until the signed notice is returned to school.
Field Trips: We have several trips to Hartville throughout the year. We also have the end of the year field trip. Students who receive three discipline notices, have excessive absences, or twenty-one Accountability Notices will not be eligible for field trips.
Progress Reports: You will be taking home a progress report approximately every two-three weeks. This report will need to be signed and returned with a parent signature.
Graded Work: Student graded work will come home stapled each Friday.
Absences: When you are absent, you are required to make up any missing assignment, science lab if possible, or project work. When you return to school, I will have your missed assignments stapled together. You will be given two days to complete assignments for each day missed. EXCEPTION!!! If a long-term assignment or project falls due during an absence, you will be expected to turn in the work/project/presentation on the day you return.
