As an "ACE" journalist, you're well prepared for your guest(s) interview. You'll introduce the guest(s) to the audience and give a brief statement why the guest(s) is present for the interview. You ask the guest(s) to share with the audience background information about himself/herself...i.e., who? what? why? when? where?, etc. Most guest(s) will give information about themselves, their occupation, their education and their connection to your community/school.
As
the interview begins, listen carefully to the guest(s). As he/she
is speaking, write down notes that will make your newspaper article interesting
and factual. You can use the type of note taking that works well
for you - Tchart, short phrases, graphic organizers, key words, etc. As
you draft the article, your notes will be transformed into the newspaper
article. Throughout the interview, review your questions and
ask the questions with a confident voice and in a polite manner.
You may wish to photograph the guest for the newspaper article. Be
sure to ask his/her permission to use it in your article. Remember,
you want your article to capture the reader's attention and share what
makes the guest(s) worthy of being featured in the newspaper.
